Learn Spanish Language and Culture in the Classroom and Beyond
St. Kate's Spanish major is designed to help students develop their Spanish language skills and cultural knowledge to gain proficiency and cultural awareness.
Speak Spanish from Day One
At St. °µÍø½ûÇø, our students learn and utilize critical and literary theory, core areas of language analysis, and different creative genres in practicing critical literacy in writing.
Our classes are based on a communicative approach with cultural awareness to contextualize language and literature globally so students are career-ready upon graduation.
St. Kate's Spanish majors are encouraged to get involved in service learning and internships through the Spanish department and the Career Development center. Engaging in service-learning opportunities will provide hands-on experience using Spanish language skills in a professional setting and across different communities.
Internships provide students with the opportunity to work with Spanish-speaking clients and colleagues and to gain valuable skills in translation, interpretation, and cultural competency.
St. Kate's Spanish majors are also encouraged to study abroad. The University offers more than 50 semester- and year-long programs in Spanish-speaking countries around the world. These programs provide students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture.
In addition, the Spanish Club will help you expand your Spanish-speaking abilities and cultural knowledge with activities, volunteer opportunities, and more.
