Jean Guezmir

Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

 

 

Jean Guezmir is the senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO) at St. °µÍø½ûÇø. In this role, Guezmir leads technology strategy and oversight for St. Kate’s, bringing a modernized approach to drive technology advancement to all areas of the University.

Guezmir played a key role in integrating the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses by designing and leading the building of high tech capabilities into University labs, staff and faculty spaces, and classrooms. This included the redesign of several healthcare related fields, including nursing simulation labs, physical therapy labs, a radiography lab, a sonography lab, and high tech classroom spaces. Guezmir’s team also implemented group study spaces for students, meeting spaces for employees, and most recently conference spaces for the University. She also has led the vision for migrating systems to the cloud and overhauling the security systems to support new national standards aimed at securing the data of the University as well as protecting employees, students, and partners. Guezmir’s forward thinking was instrumental in the University’s ability to quickly and seamlessly move courses to an online format during the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Guezmir was honored in Twin Cities Business magazine as a winner in the 2020 Notable Women in Technology edition. She also serves as a steering member on Vation Ventures Innovation Advisory Council, where she coaches and guides new innovations in technology.

Before joining St. Kate’s, Guezmir was a senior executive at Abbott Laboratories, where she led the technology teams on migrating IT infrastructure and teams from a federated to a centralized service model. In this role, she modernized infrastructure and automated services for efficiency and improved capabilities. She also led a cross-functional team on integrating mobile technologies into products as a means to capture heart monitoring data.    

Guezmir also spent 16 years at Target Corporation, leading large teams on major innovations, including business intelligence, operations management, supply chain, and import operations. She also co-led Target’s largest project on implementing an ERP where she focused on using artificial intelligence to optimize staff operations in the Target network. Guezmir won several partnership awards for her innovative and collaborative approach to solving enterprise challenges. Guezmir also partnered with the national retail federation, where she led and designed retail network efficiencies with vendor transactions, leading to cost and time efficiencies for all suppliers and retailers. Prior to Target, Guezmir was a CPA at Ernst and Young, where she was recognized for establishing the first intelligent modeling system for retail inventory valuation.

Guezmir received her undergraduate degree in mathematics, economics, and accounting from St. Olaf College, and her MBA focusing on operations and strategy from the University of Minnesota. She is a licensed CPA and certified Information Security Auditor.
