SPREE offers a wide range of trainings, educational services and expertise to assist you in your research development or securing funding and partnerships. We host workshops throughout the academic year and are available for department, classroom or other presentation needs. 

CITI Training

Education of those involved in the research process is considered essential to ensure that all research is conducted in accordance with ethical principles and federal guidelines. CITI is a provider of online, peer-reviewed research integrity education and offers training courses in Human Subject Research (HSR), Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI), and Health Information Privacy and Security (HIPS).

Internal Grants 101

This workshop showcases tips and tools to help you prepare your proposal for the APDC and 3M grant programs. We will review the application guidelines, provide templates and samples for proposal components, and offer feedback on draft proposal sections.

How to Submit an IRB Application

Do you intend to do research involving human subjects? Have you heard of the IRB and need to submit and application for your research but don't know where to start? Come learn about human subject research and the IRB at St. °µÍø½ûÇø. We will focus on how to submit an IRB research application, tools available, and answer any IRB questions you have.

All Things Budget for Your Grant

This workshop will cover key considerations for developing a grant budget, determining personnel and non-personnel expenses, distinguishing between direct and indirect costs, and developing the budget narrative/justification. Learn helpful tips for building a sustainable budget and how to avoid common mistakes. Appropriate for grant seekers of all levels.

Finding Funding and Proposal Development

This workshop will cover questions such as "what is a grant?" and "what makes a project fundable?'. It will include a demo of the Pivot funding search tool. Learn helpful tips for successful proposal development and how to avoid common mistakes. Appropriate for grant seekers of all levels.

Grant Management for Principal Investigators/Project Directors 

This is a mandatory workshop for PIs and PDs, intended to provide award recipients with the tools and guidance necessary to manage grants. At the workshop, SPREE will provide updates on federal regulations governing grants and reminders on University spending policies and best practices. Challenges PIs/PDs experience managing their grants are discussed. 

Classroom Trainings and Workshops
