One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

iSAIL Volunteer Patient Actor

Our nursing and health science students are our future healthcare workforce.  We are teaching our students patient/client and family-centered care through simulated learning activities. We are looking for individuals or families who would be willing to volunteer as patient/client actors to participate in simulated health visits, hospital admissions, care conferences, interviews, etc. more about being a volunteer patient/client actor to help train the future healthcare workforce.
Time commitment: Approximately 2-8 hours in length, varies.

Citizen Katie Day

Citizen Katie is an opportunity to gather as a St. Kate's community to build community, educate ourselves and work towards social justice. At its core, St. Kate's values community engagement and living out the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching. Citizen Katie is an annual event that brings together students, faculty, staff, and alumni in collaboration with campus and community efforts. LEARN MORE.

Gratitude Day Volunteer

Celebrate the generous spirit of the Katie community on Gratitude Day.  Alumni volunteers participate in a note writing campaign to encourage alumni and friends who gave to St. Kate's last year.  Sample wording, note cards, alumni lists, pends, and stamps are provided.  We provide a lovely buffet lunch and a chance to visit with other alumni, current students, and faculty/staff members! 
Time commitment: One day in April, mid-afternoon

Volunteer Speaker

Help students find and pursue their professional paths or personal passions.  Share your professional insights and experiences as a speaker, on a panel in classrooms or campus events.  Alumni can participate in this volunteer opportunity in-person or virtually. 
Time commitment: 2 hours, includes personal prep time

St. Kate's/CSJ Food Access Hub

We are seeking volunteer support for the first and third Wednesdays of each month (except June, July, and August,  only third Wednesday) from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The actual food shelf service hours are noon to 6 p.m. We also need assistance with food delivery stocking on the second and fourth Tuesdays. If you have an additional bilingual skill in Spanish, Hmong, ASL or Somali, your assistance is very much needed. You will be provided with additional orientation and training.  

The St. Kate's Food Access Hub is a collaborative project between St. Kate’s and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet serving the St. Kate’s community without distinction. Our food system prioritizes health equity, cultural inclusivity, environmental sustainability, care, and compassion.

Donate to Katies Closet

Katies Closet is a free, professional clothing and shoe shop open to all St. °µÍø½ûÇø students and alumni. By following Katies Closet on Instagram (@katiescloset.scu), you will gain access to the full collection. Donations are being accepted by any community members who wish to donate. Please email katiescloset@stkate.edu directly with any questions!
