About the Teaching Hub
The St. Kate's Teaching Hub offers resources and a platform for teaching and scholarly activities that foster pedagogical innovation and student success. The Hub supports faculty and staff by providing professional development opportunities and a forum for learning and exchange on issues at the forefront of higher education.
A central mission of the Teaching Hub is to create a strong sense of community around our work as instructors and student support offices. The Teaching Hub provides opportunities for all of St. Kate's community members to join Teaching Circles for informal conversation and reflection, to get connected to members in the community to share expertise or learn from others' expertise, as well as other opportunities for observation, classroom simulations, and "lab time" for feedback on activities, assignments, course design, and more.
Teaching Circles
Teaching Circles are small, informal gatherings of instructors and other community members, focused on a single topic or issue that relates to pedagogical practice and our work with students. Teaching Circles usually meet once a month at lunchtime (lunch is provided by the Teaching Hub).
The Teaching Hub offers a variety of programming throughout the academic year to support faculty and academic support offices, whose contributions significantly enhance overall student learning experiences. This programming includes topic-based workshops and information sessions designed to implement research-informed best practices in our learning spaces and community. The Teaching Hub sponsors community-wide discussions on important pedagogical issues, featuring invited speakers, panelists, and other community members.

The Teaching Hub also offers structural support for scholarship dedicated to teaching and learning. The Teaching Hub seeks to promote both the unique nature of St. Kate's and the deep expertise of our instructors and support offices through grants, feedback sessions, and other opportunities to support scholarly production.

Teaching Hub Fellows
Each Academic Year, the Teaching Hub solicits applications from full time faculty for year-long Teaching Hub Fellow positions. Fellows work in areas of particular importance for pressing pedagogical needs of our time. Demonstrating our commitment to the importance of these needs, the Teaching Hub provides two course releases to each Teaching Hub Fellow.

Inclusive Practice, infusing IP into course work, online and hybrid
I am an Assistant Professor of Biology. My research journey started with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) within the sciences (ex: active-learning techniques, problem/inquiry-based learning, and scaffolded/modeling teaching practices). It has naturally evolved to include an inclusive and equitable teaching lens. I work with adult learners through various formats (in-person, hybrid, and online). My current research projects include: “Inclusive curriculum and teaching practices to improve retention in Anatomy and Physiology” and “Importance of social integration (counterspace and belongingness) in the persistence of underrepresented student populations in STEM.” I look forward to working with all of you and learning what inclusive practices you are using and/or would like to incorporate into your courses.
