Welcome!

This page is designed to support current St. °µÍø½ûÇø LGBTQIA2S+ students and inform prospective students of the resources available to our community. Campus Resources

Through student advocacy with staff support, the Queer Student Lounge launched in Fall 2023. This is a space driven by students. Its mission is to provide a safe space for LGBTQIA2S+ students to be in community through studying, socializing, and participating in activities and events. In this space, all are welcome. Amenities include:

The St. Kate’s Health and Wellness Clinic offers a variety of free menstrual and sexual health supplies. These supplies include pads/tampons, dental dams, condoms, informational flyers, and more. The clinic entrance is on the east side of the St. Kate’s Butler Center, accessible on Google Maps.

One’s preferred name may differ from one's legal name for a variety of reasons, and St. Kate’s respects name changes.

How to enter your preferred name:

  • Prospective students: On your St. Kate’s application, in the preferred name box.
  • Current students: Go to My St. Kate's > Students > Student Self-Service > My Personal Information > Edit Name in Use.
  • Current students: Email the Registrar’s Office from your St. Kate’s account and request an update.

Where your preferred name will appear:

  • Student ID
  • Class lists
  • Canvas
  • Student email address

Where your legal name will appear:

  • Student profile
  • Personal information
  • Tax documents
  • Paychecks
  • Financial aid package
  • Transcripts

  • St. Kate’s Counseling Center at 651-690-6805 and press 1 at the prompt

For non-emergency situations, St. Kate’s Counseling Center offers eight individual counseling sessions per semester for each student, included in your tuition. Additionally, the Counseling Center provides drop-in services, group sessions, workshops, and referrals to BIPOC-identified and LGBTQIA2S-identified therapists in the community. The Counseling Center will not disclose your information to anyone without your written approval.

Programs and Events

Transgender Day of Visibility and Transgender Day of Remembrance

Annually, we provide fact sheets, pronoun pins, informational resources, a space to remember trans people lost to violence, and gender-affirming care locations in the Twin Cities and Minnesota to support our trans students.

Annual Queer Prom

We host a Queer Prom for our LGBTQ+ students with activities such as drag performances, spin-the-wheel and prizes, games, crafts, food, and more. We have also collaborated with other ACTC schools for a multi-campus Queer Prom filled with activities, performances, and even more extravagance.

Queer Student Association (QSA)

This student organization allows LGBTQ+ students to gain leadership skills, access volunteering opportunities, and time to socialize with peers. QSA throws social and educational events to build support throughout our campus queer community. If you have questions or would like to join, email us at qsa@stkate.edu.

Off-Campus Resources

Reproductive and sexual health care clinic in Minneapolis offering health care and educational services to patients with or without health insurance.

Provides a network of LGBTQ+ professionals working in mental health, social services, wellness, and healing practices.

Community organizers and healthcare providers working to improve quality healthcare access for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals.

The Coalition offers support groups, educational services, events, and partnerships with different healthcare organizations.

Empowering Minnesota’s LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, organizing, education, and direct support services.

Provides addiction treatment and individualized substance use treatment for LGBTQ+ people in Minnesota.

Allows one to search for counselors based on counselors’ shared identities (BIPOC, queer, trans, etc.) in addition to pricing, insurance provider, and type of therapy.

Offers financially accessible and specialized mental health care for queer and trans youth ages 12-25 and their families.

The Trevor Project is a non-profit organization providing suicide prevention and crisis intervention services to LGBTQIA2S+ youth.
