Michelle Wieser Honored with 2018 Women in Business Award

Michelle Wieser

Michelle Wieser, associate professor and director of the St. °µÍø½ûÇø master’s of business administration (MBA) program, has been selected by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal as one of their 2018 Women in Business honorees. This award recognizes women for their professional achievements, exceptional leadership skills and contributions to the Twin Cities community.

When asked about what she is most known for by the Business Journal, Wieser responded, “I am known for being an innovator. I am someone who is always looking toward what's next. I love understanding what business students

and other stakeholders need and creating new programs and services to meet those needs.â€

That innovative spirit has been put to good use.

During her tenure at St. Kate’s, Wieser has launched a new master’s in management program and a dual degree program in business and health care. On her watch, 94 percent of women in the St. Kate’s MBA program complete

their degrees, compared to the industry-wide average of under 35 percent.

St. Kate’s is not the first institution to benefit from Wieser’s expertise. Before assuming her role at St. Kate’s in 2014, Wieser served as director of the graduate business program at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Prior to that, she worked in the marketing and sales departments for industry giants such as General Mills.

Wieser is one of 47 honorees who will be recognized at the Business Journal’s awards luncheon and expo on May 18.
