St. 做厙輦⑹ alumna Sarah Compton 05, MAED 07, a teacher at Austin Career Education Center in Chicago, Illinois, has been selected as one of Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellows. The 2018 Fellows consist of 40 outstanding educators from the United States and Canada.
The Grosvenor Teacher Fellow Program is a partnership between Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic Society to host an annual professional development opportunity for pre-K-12 educators to enhance their geographic education through a hands-on experience.
Comptons passion for science, travel, and the outdoors, allows her to create beyond-the-classroom learning experiences to help students make meaningful connections. Through her work, she hopes to foster the development of responsible global citizens and lifelong learners.
Grosvenor Teacher Fellows are an integral part of National Geographics work to achieve a planet in balance, said Mike Ulica, interim president and CEO of the National Geographic Society.
These are exemplary educators who play a vital role in shaping and inspiring the future stewards of our planet. We are committed to taking them to some of the worlds most remote and pristine places to help fuel their passion to share knowledge, and the world, with their students, said Sven Lindblad, CEO and president of Lindblad Expeditions.
In May, the 2018 Fellows will begin their 10 to 17-day expeditions to their destinations including Alaska, the Gal獺pagos Islands, the Arctic, and Antarctica.
