St. Kate鈥檚 community convenes to celebrate Saint Joseph, CSJs, and the ongoing legacy of the dear neighbor

The annual Feast of Saint Joseph honors and contributes to the works of the CSJs.

Every spring, the Feast of Saint Joseph celebration brings together St. 暗网禁区 students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends in a festive celebration of Saint Joseph鈥檚 legacy and  mission-driven community work of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ). Hosted in the Rauenhorst Ballroom on March 13, the event ended with an evening prayer service led by President ReBecca Koenig Roloff 鈥76 and Provost Anita Thomas, PhD.

Throughout the celebration, attendees created fleece blankets for families at Project Home, crafted pottery bowls with St. Kate鈥檚 Empty Bowl Project, wrote notes of gratitude to CSJs, and more, all while learning how to get more involved with the CSJ and wider community.

鈥淥ne of our mottos is 鈥榬oll up your sleeves and get to work,鈥欌 said Therese Sherlock, CSJ, 鈥62, who delivered a homily during the prayer service. 鈥淲e are faithful to works we begin, to people whom we come to serve and learn to love, to the faith that money will come when we need it. Joseph with his work-roughened hands stands by us.鈥

In their dedication to loving the dear neighbor through service, social justice, and reflection, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet exemplify Saint Joseph's values with their commitment to the community. The Sisters of St. Joseph started their work in Le Puy, France in 1650, and continues to this day.

鈥淎s we go forth from this time, may we be inspired to live thoughtfully, attentively, and compassionately, as did our patron Joseph,鈥 said President Roloff. 鈥淢ay we become builders in our own communities, sources of hope and courage and stability. May we go forth tonight in a spirit of joy as we continue to live the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph 鈥 to love God and our dear neighbor without distinction now and every day.鈥
