Hannah Hausman ’24 and their journey to graduation highlighted by MPCC

Every year, St. provides various scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study opportunities to undergraduate, graduate, and certificate students. St. Kate’s commitment to financial support has positioned it as a top choice for aspiring students, who benefit not only from these resources but the academic programs for which the University is renowned.

Hannah Hausman ’24, a third-year biology major, was recently featured by the for their financial aid experience at St. Kate’s. Growing up in St. Paul, Hausman's first introduction to St. Kate’s began through the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program, designed for high school students to earn college credit tuition-free.

“The financial aid I have been given at St. Kate’s has allowed me to access so many opportunities in a personalized environment [and] to focus on my passion and attend graduate school right after graduation,” said Hausman in the MPCC article.

Balancing academics with extracurricular experience, Hausman contributes to the biology department by assisting with microbiology lab prep, tutors fellow students in the math and sciences at the Tutoring and Learning Center, and leads two campus organizations — the Biology Club and the Queer Student Association.

In 2023, Hausman earned the Goldwater Scholarship, a highly coveted, nationwide scholarship awarded to undergraduates in natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering. They have recently applied to graduate schools outside of Minnesota, aspiring to pursue a PhD in molecular biology and the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases.
