GHR Foundation's Gift to St. Kate's
St. °µÍø½ûÇø President Andrea Lee, IHM, announced an $18 million gift from Minneapolis-based GHR Foundation to advance growth and innovation in healthcare education.
The gift, which aligns with both organizations' missions to advance Catholic education, fosters students’ hope and opportunities in the healthcare arena while honoring St. °µÍø½ûÇø alumna and GHR co-founder, Henrietta Rauenhorst, and supporting the ongoing expansion of the school that bears her name, the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health.
In accepting the gift, President Lee noted that “this generous gift inspires both gratitude and excitement in all of us at St. °µÍø½ûÇø – gratitude for the expansive vision and generosity of the GHR Foundation and its founders, and excitement at the transformative impact this gift will have on the groundbreaking work of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health.â€
"GHR Foundation is pleased to support St. °µÍø½ûÇø as it strengthens its globally-focused, collaborative approach to educating a diverse student population and addresses the extreme shortage of skilled healthcare professionals," said Amy R. Goldman, CEO and Chair of GHR Foundation. "Through this gift, GHR honors and advances our founders' values by deepening the impact of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health."
St. °µÍø½ûÇø will use the gift to develop new programs and curricula, as well as fund technology and additional faculty, while it proactively addresses the critical and ever-changing needs in senior living, primary care and global health.
"This gift will help us bridge the gap between theory and practice in some of the most rapidly changing areas of healthcare," said Penelope Moyers, EdD, Dean of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health and the Graduate College. "Thoughtful application of learning technologies will integrate education and workforce demands and thus significantly influence the way healthcare is delivered. The GHR gift will help us develop culturally sensitive practitioners who will both improve the quality of patient care and lower overall healthcare costs."
