Master of Physician Assistant Studies
Master of Physician Assistant Studies
Play a key role in primary care medicine.
Become a vital member in practicing medicine, collaborating with licensed physicians, and in teams with other healthcare providers.
Focus on ethics and team-based practice.
The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program at St. °µÍø½ûÇø provides the building blocks of critical thinking by incorporating medical decision-making, ethical considerations, and principles of team-based practice into every course.
Our innovative curriculum begins with 14 months in the classroom engaging in progressive, rich discussion—one that includes a global perspective—and hands-on experiences alongside experts in clinical settings. Next is 14 months of clinical clerkships (2,000 hours at a clinical location) before concluding with a senior seminar.
Students who complete the program will be prepared to take the National Certification Examination required for licensure and clinical practice, and will demonstrate:
- Critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and medical decision-making skills reflective of quality patient care
- An active, investigatory thinking approach to clinical situations
- Understanding of the variety of roles in the healthcare setting through interprofessional education (IPE)
Due to the intensive nature of this curriculum, we strongly discourage students from seeking or maintaining outside employment while enrolled. While understanding that certain circumstances necessitate a student to pursue employment, the program cannot make concessions to accommodate a student’s work obligations, nor should the student’s work obligations interfere with the progression of learning and responsibilities the student has while enrolled.
Students of all genders are welcome in the program.
