I have been teaching in the Department of Business Administration at St. °µÍø½ûÇø since 2001. I currently teach a variety of courses in the department including Leadership and influence, Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Buyer Behavior and Market Research, Strategic Marketing, Global Business, and Strategic Management. I also co-developed and led a study abroad course called Sustainability through a Business Lens: Exploring People, Planet, and Profits in Chile and a topics course called #MeToo: Sexual Harassment in the Workplace. I grew up in the St. Paul Midway area, just a few miles away from St. Kate's. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Hamline University and later earned an MBA in Management from the University of St. Thomas. I completed my Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development at the University of Minnesota. My Ph.D. work focused on identifying strategies organizations can employ to increase the number of women in senior leadership roles. I am deeply committed to the mission of St. °µÍø½ûÇø to educate women to lead and influence. I am especially passionate about fostering best practices in organizations to develop and empower women to succeed in the business world. My professional work experience includes roles in corporate client marketing, fixed income trading, investment banking, and business development, including positions at Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch, and Cargill Financial. Several years of industry experience working in leading Fortune 500 companies helped me to articulate how theory connects to practice. Through these professional and academic lenses, I lead students in conversations about key current events that are relevant to the subject matter we cover each day. I also partner with organizations to create real-world projects for students to engage in. As a result, students have the opportunity to address contemporary business issues, gain exposure to business leaders, and develop an appreciation for ever-changing business environments. My academic research on women's career advancement strategies enables me to actively work with large organizations in the United States and abroad. I facilitate the creation and implementation of policies and practices to help these organizations increase the number of women in leadership roles. I believe this research has and will continue to have meaningful impact on the way these organizations think about developing and advancing women and the rate of organizational progress in doing so. As the business department's marketing lead, I am committed to reserach and scholarship in the marketing discipline. My academic research in the field of marketing focuses on sharing best practices in teaching marketing in higher education. Projects I have completed include conference papers and presentations on incorporating client-based learning projects in marketing courses and best practices in teaching marketing research.
